You Can’t Stop Spirit
Director/ProducerThe Mardi Gras Baby Dolls fearlessly use their masking tradition to explore themes of identity, sexual liberation, and freedom for Black women during carnival in New Orleans. Through their tradition, they challenge society's expectations of how Black women should exist and act in the world, while also reclaiming culture and tradition. Ultimately, the Baby Dolls create an alternative social space for themselves and others.
